Our mission
is to feed the hungry and homeless of the West End, Beacon
Hill and surrounding neighborhoods in an open, safe, and
caring environment. In an average month we provide over
2,000 meals and 120 bags of groceries. We provide clothes
or a clothing coupon that can be redeemed at Good Will. There
is a nurse that comes in once a week. Outreach workers from
other agencies provide services such as detoxification,
counciling and shelter placement. At least twenty volunteers
are needed on a weekly basis.
Description:
We serve hot nutritious lunches Sunday thru Thursday. Thursday
evening suppers are proided by local churches and other
organizations. We have an active group of seniors that enjoy
a sit down lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The seniors participate
in a wonderful ongoing art program and go out on group outings
throughout the year. Our volunteers come from such places
as Beacon Hill, West End and surrounding neighborhoods,
Suffolk University, Emerson College and churches from in
and around Boston. Volunteers are needed especially for
lunches.
