Transferring Lists to the New Catalog

BPL Catalogs

One of the many features of our new online catalog is the ability to keep track of titles in My Shelves. Anything you comment on is automatically added to your Completed Shelf. You can add titles you're currently using to the In Progress Shelf. And the For Later Shelf is a great place to keep track of things you'd like read, watch, or listen to. But you can use My Shelves any way you'd like.

If you used the previous catalog to keep track of items, you can do a one-time, one-way move of the titles in your 'My List' lists in the previous catalog to your For Later Shelf in the new catalog. Once you have made this transfer you should stop using the old catalog to update your 'My List' titles. You can only make this transfer once, so make sure you're done using the previous catalog's 'My List' feature before you begin.

Transferring your old 'My List'

  1. Browse to the previous catalog and log into your account.
  2. Print out or e-mail a copy of your 'My List' as a backup. (These copies will be useful if you have multiple 'My List' lists, since all your 'My Lists' will be combined in your new For Later Shelf.)
  3. Screen shot of My SPL dropdown menuLog in to the new catalog.
  4. Click on My BPL to open the dropdown menu.
  5. Click on the For later menu link under the My Shelves column.
  6. If you have not already imported your 'My List', you will see a link to 'Import List Items'. Click that link.
  7. Once the transfer is done, you will no longer see the 'Import List Items' link and will not be able to import any further additions or changes made to your 'My List' in the previous catalog.
  8. Titles may take up to 10 minutes to appear on your For Later Shelf.
  9. Return to the previous catalog and delete your existing 'My List' lists.

Titles imported or added to your 'For Later' list are private by default, and are kept indefinitely until you remove them. There is no limit on the number of titles that can appear on your 'For Later' list.
