Central Library

The General Library Departments are located in the Johnson Building which houses the Boston Public Library's largest circulating collection of materials, over 700,000 volumes. This general collection includes fiction and non-fiction materials for adults, children and teenagers, large print books, materials in languages other than English, films, videotapes, compact discs, books on tape, and audiotapes.

The General Library Departments are:  Adult Readers and Information Services, Audio-Visual, Children's, Circulation, and Young Adults.

The Access Services Program, which is part of Adult Readers and Information Services is located on the concourse level. There are reference materials and equipment to help patrons with disabilities use library materials within the library.
