In October and November 2010, the Boston Public Library conducted an survey of library users and non-users.

• More than 15,500 surveys were completed
• Postcards supplied in all Boston Public Library locations asked key survey questions
• Other postcards inviting non-users to take the survey were placed in more than 200 non-BPL locations across Boston
