Reviewing Other Strategic Plans

by Michael Colford

As the Trustees Strategic Planning Committee begins the work of creating a strategic plan for the Boston Public Library, they are conducting a review of other institutions strategic plans to identify elements that might be incorporated into our own. Among the plans we are reviewing are:

If you have any suggestions about other strategic plans that you’ve found to be effective, please respond in the comments. Already, one of our patrons sent in the Solano County Public Library’s Strategic Plan, which we have added to our list of plans to review.

  1. theszak says:

Interlibrary Loan Department at Boston Public Library needs more knowledgeable staff with respect to the software used there. For journal articles where a text based source is identified does it have to be changed to image based for library users preferring text based? The question needs to be better understood by Boston Public Library administrators, managers. A more intelligent protocol is needed for interlibrary loan at BPL.

  2. I’d like to remind everyone that comments in this forum should be limited to the Compass Strategic Planning Process. We have other methods to address general suggestions and comments about services, most notably ask@bpl.org.

If you have specific concerns that are tangentially related to our Strategic Planning Process, might I also invite you to attend one of the Compass roundtables being held throughout the city in the next few months? The next one is tomorrow, (Thursday, May 5), 6pm at the West Roxbury Branch.

    Thanks,
    Michael
