Brighton Branch celebrates new public art

by Christine Schonhart

On Thursday May 14th members of the Friends of the Brighton Branch Library, BPL staff, and elected officials joined artist Richard Duca as he unveiled his latest sculpture, “Wings of the Imagination”, at the Brighton Branch of the Boston Public Library. Thanks to the Boston Arts Commission, The Browne Fund, The Henderson Fund and the Patricia Gordon estate, the Friends were able to bring this beautiful new piece of art to the community. While it is a piece of art, it is also functional – curl up with a good book on a warm summer day in one of the three chairs that make up the sculpture or get inspired by   quotes from literature engraved in the stone work surrounding the piece.
