Celtic PrideThe Irish Tourist Association (ITA) promoted four hundred hotels in its first brochure in 1925 and led the efforts to promote Ireland as a tourist destination. This poster may be considered amusingly ethnocentric in its promotion of Ireland. Note that all the countries and continents visible on the globe are in muted shades of yellow and red; however, the “Emerald Isle” appears verdant and lush in all her green glory. The majority of travel posters were produced and published in the country they were promoting. The large white space near the bottom of this poster was left empty for the travel agency to imprint with contact information. |
