The Boston Public Library Foundation and the Boston Public Library are pleased to announce that Carol Mahoney has been named as the Acting Executive Director of the Boston Public Library Foundation.
Carol Mahoney is a skilled professional and library veteran known to many among the BPL community. She recently retired as head of the Greenwich Library, where she led that institution through a dynamic strategic planning process. Previously, she worked at Boston Public Library as Neighborhood Services Manager and as Director at the Cary Memorial Library in Lexington.
Carol brings a rich background in all elements of library leadership and development. Her familiarity with both the Boston Public Library and the Boston Public Library Foundation makes her especially valuable.
Under Carol’s stewardship, the BPLF will continue its work in support of the Boston Public Library and its Compass: Strategic Plan. One particular area of concentration is the first phase of renovations for the Central Library in Copley Square, which opens in early 2015. The Foundation also remains committed to supporting many popular longtime programs and services at the BPL, including Homework Help, Concerts in the Courtyard, and Read Your Way to Fenway.
