Associates of the Boston Public Library
Appoints New Executive Director
The Associates of the Boston Public Library has named Betsy Hall
as the new Executive Director of the Associates. Ms. Hall has been
involved with the Associates for 13 years, most notably as a member
of the organization's Board of Directors and active participant
in its Literary Lights committee. From 1994-1997, Ms. Hall was co-chair
of the Associates' Literary Lights dinner, an annual event honoring
twelve outstanding New England writers.
In addition to her familiarity of the Associates, Ms. Hall brings
extensive experience in business management, graphic design, travel,
publishing and telecommunications to her new position. As Executive
Director, she will be responsible for supervision of all Associates
programs and activities, strategic planning, coordination of Associates
activities with the Library and other cultural organizations, creation
and execution of an events schedule, membership cultivation, community,
government and media relations and promotion and all Associates
communications including press releases, newsletters, brochures
and official correspondence as well as financial management, contract
negotiation, distribution of funds and administration of operations.
Educated in Florence, Italy, Ms. Hall has two grown children and
lives in Boston's South End, where she is Vice President of the
Ellis South End Neighborhood Association, on the Board of Visitors
of the Boston Center for the Arts and a Corporator of the Community
Music Center of Boston.
