The Associates of the Boston Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Louisa Stephens as its new Executive Director.

In her new capacity, Stephens will be responsible for the supervision of all Associates programs and activities, including strategic planning, membership cultivation, outreach, fundraising, communications, social media, operations, event planning, and financial management.

Stephens will also be instrumental in helping to further develop the Associates’ David McCullough Conservation Fund, which was created in 2001 to provide a consistent source of funding for the conservation of the Boston Public Library’s irreplaceable historic, cultural and artistic treasures. Standing now at almost $2 million dollars, the fund is supported entirely by private donations.

Prior to accepting her new position, Stephens worked for United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Boston and Australia. Stephens currently serves on the Board of the Foundation for Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF); on the Junior League of Boston’s Finance Council; is a member of the Boston Photography Center; and volunteers at Excel Academy Charter School in East Boston. She grew up in Framingham, MA and currently lives in Somerville, MA.
