Associates of the Boston Public Library

Please consider a new or renewed membership in the Associates of the Boston Public Library. Generous donations to the Associates help us preserve and protect rare books, irreplaceable manuscripts, and one-of-a-kind documents in the Boston Public Library’s Special Collections. But many more await conservation. Demand for access to these items is at an all-time high. And we want to make them accessible to everyone.

Last year, we conserved critical books, including a 10th-century Lectionary, cataloged abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison’s personal correspondence, digitized vintage photographs and posters, and launched an exciting American Revolutionary War Manuscripts project. The Associates also sponsored wide-ranging public events and programs, such as Literary Lights, Literary Lights for Children, the Hundred-Year Retroactive Book Award, our Writer-in-Residence Program , and the Home Front exhibition commemorating the American Civil War’s sesquicentennial.

Please support our work by joining today. We want to protect more of the Library’s priceless items and make them accessible to everyone. And we have exciting programs and projects ahead in 2013. But we need your help. The Associates relies on annual membership contributions to help us fund critical conservation projects and much more. We depend on the support of people like you, who believe in our work and make it happen. I hope you will become a member today. Thanks so much for your generosity.
