The Associates of the Boston Public Library is pleased to present a new lecture series that celebrates the Special Collections of the Library.
The Associates recently celebrated "Stories from Red Sox Nation" with Larry Lucchino, Tom Werner, Dan Shaughnessy, Luke Salisbury and the Red Sox trophy at a reception and talk on January 25th in the Abbey Room. Almost two hundred fans turned out for the fun which included a fascinating panel discussion, pictures with the trophy, a raffle, and hotdogs with all the fixings.
The first evening in the series was on October 13, 2004 with Jimmy Tingle and Steve Sweeney dishing out humor in “What Makes Us Laugh?” The evening of fun was loosely based on the letters of Jack Benny from the BPL’s collection and included a reception and dinner. BPL’s attractive restaurant, NOVEL, was decorated with Jack Benny photographs and copies of his letters.
