PINs

Borrowing and Circulating Information

A PIN, or personal identification number, in combination with your library card number allows you to:

  • Look up your record from home, work, or at a computer in the library.
  • Renew Boston Public Library material from home, work, or at a computer in the library.
  • Place requests for material from home, or at a computer in the library.
  • Reserve a public library computer for internet access, word processing, and more.
  • Many other online library services.

If you have a Boston Public Library card, but have not yet chosen a PIN number you can fill out this form to choose one. If you know your PIN and would just like to change it, you may do so immediately in your online account settings.

You may also use this form to change your PIN if you've forgotten it, however you can set your PIN immediately using the "Forgot your PIN?" link on the login screen of our catalog. Note that you must have successfully registered by logging in to the catalog at least once before to use this feature.

If the PIN you request below is not active in 48 hours, please contact us by phone (617-859-2321) or by email (circ@bpl.org).
