United States Senate Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce
The Senate Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce (also know as the Kefauver Committee after the chair, Estes Kefauver), met between 1950 and 1951. Its purpose was to determine “whether organized crime utilizes the facilities of interstate commerce or otherwise operates in interstate commerce in furtherance of any transactions which are in violation of the law… and, if so, the manner and extent to which, and the identity of the persons, firms, or corporations by which such utilization is being made.”
