New & Noteworthy

  • All Boston Public Library locations will be closed on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. All BPL locations will remain open on Friday, July 3.
  • The Central Library in Copley Square will be closed Sunday, July 12 - Tuesday, July 14, for electrical work related to the Central Library Renovation. During this time, please visit one of our 24 branch locations for library services, or access our electronic resources such as e-books, streaming media, and digital magazines.
  • Boston Public Library locations offer free summer programs for children and teens. This year’s children's theme is “Every Hero Has a Story,” and events include story times, crafts, and programs hosted by Historic New England, New England Aquarium, and the Museum of Science. Events for teens include interactive music and comic book workshops.
