I just finished reading Seeing What Others Don’t: The Remarkable Ways We Gain Insight by Gary Klein. It is a thoughtful, well written book. I highly recommend it. It is available as an e-book or a print book at the Boston Public Library.
Seeing What Others Don’t: The Remarkable Ways We Gain Insight
(Book or E-book — 2013)
Klein uses stories to illustrate his research into what insights are and how they happen. He discusses how organizations discourage insight with their desire for predictablility and avoiding mistakes. He also examines the potential for information technology to block discoveries. He shows us that insight is a whole new way of understanding, not just an “aha” moment.
