AAA Labor Day Travel Forecast

According to the American Automobile Association’s  Labor Day Travel Forecast, 34.1 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the upcoming Labor Day holiday, a 4.2 percent increase from  32.7 million travelers last year. Read more »

Retail Return Fraud Prevention

According to the National Retail Federation’s 2012 Return Fraud Survey, completed by loss prevention executives at 60 retail companies, the industry lost an estimated $8.9 billion to return fraud last year.

Apple Losing Market Share in Smartphones

International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that nearly 80%,  more than 187 million of the 236.4 million smartphones shipped worldwide during the second quarter of this year ran Google’s Android operating system.  The overall number of smartphone shipments represents a 51% jump from the same period last year. The Alternative Vehicle Market

voltGeneral Motors announced yesterday that it is knocking 13 percent off the sticker price of the Chevrolet Volt electric car. The automaker said Tuesday that the 2014 Volt will start at $34,995, including shipping — $5,000 less than the current model. The new model is scheduled to reach showrooms late this summer.

Sales of electric vehicles are rising, but they’re still only 0.2 percent of the U.S. auto market. Read more »
