Boston Public Library, in association with the Oxford Business Alumni Network of Boston, will hold a debate in the style of the Oxford Union. Up for discussion in this session is the following motion: this house believes the American Revolution was bad for modern business. Moderated by the Oxford Union and including perspectives from across the business community, attendees are invited to add their voices to the discussion and enjoy a lively evening at the Boston Public Library. Moderator Anthony Goodman is an experienced advisor to c-suite executive teams and non-executive directors in the US and Europe, specializing in the alignment of leaders and organizations for effective corporate governance and improved relationships with stakeholders.

Monday, December 1st: Author Talk with Dr. James W. Russell, Social Insecurity: 401(k)s and the Retirement Crisis

Dr. James W. Russell, author of Social Insecurity: 401(k)s and the Retirement Crisis is an authority on retirement policy. He led one the first employee movements to successfully challenge the dominant trend to replace traditional pension plans with 401(k)-like plans. He argues the new retirement plans are essentially scams that mainly benefit the financial services industry through the various fees that are charged.
