With summer in full swing, it’s time to indulge in my favorite pastime, oysters!  I’ve been reading last year’s Shucked by Erin Byers Murray.  Set in Duxbury, this non-fiction work chronicles the author’s year long odyssey of working for the Island Creek oyster farm after quitting her job at the DailyCandy. It’s a perfect beach read, and it’ll whet your appetite for those briny sea creatures.  For that I recommend stopping by Marliave, one of my favorite local restaurants, where they serve dollar oysters 4-6, 9-10pm daily.

While the Boston Public Library has some great technology workshop classes, you may be interested to know that Google is offering a free online course to help you become a power internet searcher. Consider signing up today!

Power Searching with Google is a free online, community-based course showcasing search techniques and how to use them to solve real, everyday problems. It features:

• Six 50-minute classes.
• Interactive activities to practice new skills.
• Opportunities to connect with others using Google Groups, Google+, and Hangouts on Air.

Fancy a cuppa?  At long last, and after a rather tumultuous financing and building process, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum reopens tomorrow, June 26th.  Don’t miss tonight’s June 25th, 6pm Boston Landmarks Orchestra performance.  The concert will be held indoors at the Tea Party Ships and Museum on the Congress Street Bridge.

Suffolk Registry of Deeds

Use this database to check all documents relative to real estate, including deed, mortgages, releases and liens.  Find recorded land documents dated back to 1893. Indexed documents go back to 1976. 

Building Permit Search 

The building permit search database is courtsey of the Inspectional Services Department.  Check this database to see what building permits have been issued for your propery.

Assessing Online 

Property parcel data including assessed value, location, ownership and tax information for each piece of property in Boston can be found here.
