READING REQUIREMENTS:

9th and 10th Graders - 4 books
11th graders - 5 Books
12th graders - 6 books

WRITING ASSIGNMENTS:

NINTH GRADERS:
Read the required Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry and 3 other books of your choice from the list, and write on the theme of "discoveries."  What discoveries do the characters or writers make?  What discoveries do you make?

TENTH GRADERS:
Read 4 books of your choice from the list, and write on the theme of "crossings."  What crossings do the characters or writers undertake?  What crossings are you undertaking?

ELEVENTH GRADERS:
Read 5 books of your choice from the list, and write on the theme of "awakenings."  What awakenings are the characters or writers undergoing?  What awakenings are you undergoing?

TWELFTH GRADERS:
Read 6 books of your choice from the list, and write on the theme of "epiphanies."  What are the epiphanies of the characters or writers?  What epiphanies are you having?

All essays must meet the following length requirements:

9th Grade: 2 pages, typed double-spaced
10th Grade: 2 pages, typed double-spaced
11th Grade: 4 pages, typed double-spaced
12th Grade: 4 pages, typed double-spaced

All essays are due the second week of school to your Writing/Adivsory teachers. Essays must have an introduction, development and conclusion. Essays are typed, double-spaced, font-size 12.
