Dear Parents and Students

We have selected the following list of books as summer reading for the children entering Grade 2. You are required to read five books and five poems. After you have read each selection, please record the title and author on the Required Reading Book Log or Required Reading Poetry Log. Also, be sure to have your parents sign the logs after you have read each book and poem.

Please read the four of the following five required books:

Read five poems from the books on the Recommended Poetry Reading List. (These poems do not have to be from five different books.)

You are also required to complete the three activities in this packet.

Activity 1: For one of the books from the above Required Reading List, please complete the "Character Scoops" activity.

Activity 2: For the book you select from the Recommended Reading List, please complete the "Book Report" activity.

Activity 3: After reading the five poetry selections from the Recommended Poetry List, please complete the "Two is Enough" activity.

On the first day of school, please bring your Book Log, Poetry Log, and your three activities with you. We hope that you enjoy reading these excellent children's literature selections. Have a wonderful summer!
