Philosophy: The English Department’s philosophy for summer
reading is to expose students to novels that complement the curriculum
and are recommended by colleges to prepare students for rigorous
study.
Guidelines: Students must read the required book/s listed by grade.
There will be an objective test covering the book/s on the last
day of the first week of school. The test will be based on plot,
characters, themes, symbols, and narrative devices. The test grade
will count towards your first quarter grade. These books may be
signed out of a library or purchased from a bookstore. If you lose
this sheet, it may also be found on the website.
