BILL BRETT, PHOTOGRAPHER OF BOSTON’S FAMOUS FACES, TO SPEAK AT BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
October 6, 2005
Bill Brett, Boston Globe society photographer for several decades, will visit the Boston Public Library at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, to share some of the stories behind the pictures and to discuss his new book of portraits of famous faces.
Brett’s photos are known for showing the human side of business and cultural leaders and of the community activists and philanthropists who give Boston its heart. In his book, he takes us into the homes and offices of the city's leaders, and out onto the streets where they live, work, and play.
Brett's 245 black-and-white images include religious leaders, university presidents, nonprofit leaders, and the cultural, media, and sports stars who illuminate Boston. They range from CEOs to the owners of the oldest family funeral home in Boston, a Newbury Street "haircutter to the stars," and a beloved doorman at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Bill Brett will speak at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, in the Rabb Lecture Hall, 700 Boylston St., Copley Square.
A book sale and signing will follow. The program is free and open to the public.
