BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY’S CODMAN SQUARE BRANCH REOPENS AFTER RENOVATIONS
October 22, 2004
The Boston Public Library’s Codman Square branch will reopen on Monday, October 25, 2004 after being closed to paint the inside of the building, install new carpeting and complete the replacement of portions of the air conditioning system. In addition, the project brought the branch new restrooms, windows and a new front door.
The branch had been scheduled to reopen on October 12, but an NStar mishap outside the building damaged equipment in the branch, extending the closure.
With the reopening, Dorchester will have a refreshed, updated library facility. For upcoming events and programs please consult the BPL website at http://www.bpl.org.
For more information about services at the Codman Square branch, located at 690 Washington Street, customers may contact the branch at 617-436-8214 or visit the website, www.bpl.org.
For more than 150 years, the Boston Public Library has pioneered public library service in America with revolutionary ideas and famous firsts. Established in 1848, the BPL was the first publicly supported municipal library in America, the first public library to lend books, the first to have a branch library and the first to have a children’s room. All of its programs and exhibits are free and open to the public. At the Boston Public Library, books are just the beginning!
