BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY’S GROVE HALL BRANCH REMAINS CLOSED FOR ROOF PROJECT
February 15, 2005
Due to record cold and snowfall in recent weeks, the roof installation project at the Boston Public Library’s Grove Hall branch has been delayed.
The branch, located at 5 Crawford Street in Roxbury, was closed in late December for the installation of a new roof. Unfortunately, because of January’s record snowfall, contractors have been unable to make a significant impact in installing the new roof.
When the weather improves, workers will spend approximately 6-8 weeks on the project. The branch will then welcome back staff and customers.
Further schedule details will be forthcoming via the BPL’s website at www.bpl.org, as well as in local newspapers.
Customers of the BPL’s Grove Hall branch have their choice of 25 other neighborhood branches including nearby Egleston Square at 2044 Columbus Avenue and Dudley at 65 Warren Street in Roxbury.
For more than 150 years, the Boston Public Library has pioneered public library service in America with revolutionary ideas and famous firsts. Established in 1848, the BPL was the first publicly supported municipal library in America, the first public library to lend books, the first to have a branch library and the first to have a children’s room. At the Boston Public Library, books are just the beginning!
