It’s Summer in the City! Summer reading is for everybody, whether you read at the beach or on your commute to work. Fill in a Bingo Card (available at participating locations outlined below, or by downloading and printing the card) with what you read, did, or discovered between Saturday, July 1, 2017 and Saturday, September 2, 2017. Drop your completed card off by closing time on Saturday, September 2 at any participating BPL location, or post a photo of the card to Instagram or Twitter using the following handles and tags: @bplboston #srp17 #BPLSummer.

Please Note:

  • Only one card per person.
  • Book titles may only be used once per card.
  • For readers ages 18 and older.

Bingo Cards can be picked up at these participating branch locations: Adams Street, Central – New and Novel Desk, Charlestown, Codman Square, Connolly, Dudley, East Boston, Egleston Square, Faneuil, Fields Corner, Honan-Allston, North End, Roslindale, South End, Uphams Corner, and West End.

Please note that the Brighton, Grove Hall, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Parker Hill, South Boston, and West Roxbury branches are not participating.


Blackout: Complete all 25 squares to enter a drawing for the surprise grand prize! Blackout cards will also be automatically entered into their branch’s bingo drawing.

Bingo: Complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line to enter a drawing for books, BPL swag, and other great prizes! One winner per participating branch.

What do I read?

Ask your friendly neighborhood librarian for a book recommendation, or try out Shelf-Service —just answer a few questions, and our Reader’s Advisory team will curate a list of book recommendations for you. You can also let the squares guide you to new genres (see booklists below) or try crowd-sourcing your book recommendations using the hashtags #readharder and #weneeddiversebooks on Twitter and Instagram.
