BPL Teen Read Week Top Ten Books Survey Results

by Mary

I hope everyone enjoyed Teen Read Week as much as I did. One activity we did from the Central Library Teen Room was a survey of the Top Ten Books based on the YALSA Top Ten Book Nominees. The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has asked teens and teens at heart across the country to vote for their favorite 10 favorite books from the list of nominated books. We made the survey easier and asked for people to pick their favorite top 3 books from the list of nominated books. We had 16 people who participated. Below are the BPL Teen Read Week Top Ten Books survey results from 10 to 1:

10. The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda (1 vote)
9. Grave Mercy by Robin LeFevers (1 vote)
8. Tilt by Ellen Hopkins (2 votes)
7. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (2 votes)
6. Underworld by Meg Cabot (3 votes)
5. Insurgent by Veronica Roth (3 votes)
4. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein (3 votes)
3. Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore (4 votes)
2. Croak by Gina Damico (4 votes)

And the #1 book chosen by our 16 participants is…….. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman (5 votes)

There were 3 titles on both lists although at a different number:

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein.

I see some books from the YALSA list that were not on our list that I will have to read during the coming year. I hope you find some great titles to read too.

Thanks to everyone who particpated.
