Learn to Knit at the Library!

by Anna

We welcome teens aged 12-18 to learn how to knit in this weekly one hour workshop on basic knitting.

The workshop will take place in the Central Library Teen Room from 3pm-4pm each of the three days.

January 8th: You’ll learn the most basic knitting stitch there is: the knit stitch.

January 15th: We’ll continue working on the knit stitch and then we’ll go over how to finish a project, otherwise known as casting-off.

January 29th: You’ve learned to knit, and cast-off, now we’ll learn the hard part: starting a project, known as casting-on.

Students will be given a ball of yarn and a pair of needles for the workshop. Those who wish to continue knitting at home should bring their own size nine needles.

Where can I find giant knitting needles and giant yarn like those shown in the picture of the man? That looks like so fun to try!

I’m not sure. I found that picture online, but it wasn’t for selling either the thick yarn or the needles. The best thing you can try is to hunt around the internet and see what comes up. Those might have been specially made needles for all I know. But they do look like fun, don’t they? Good luck!
