April is National Poetry Month and in celebration, we’re hosting several teen poetry programs here at the Central Library throughout vacation week. Yesterday’s workshop was called “Poetry In Hand” and incorporated Black Out poetry, Found poetry, and Magnetic Poetry.

The poem below was written by Anonymous at the Central Branch yesterday using Magnetic Poetry:

“FINDING YESTERDAY”

ONLY THIS LOVE

HEALS YOU AND I

IN OUR SLEEP

WE SHARE OUR PLEASURE

FLYING INTO A NIGHT SKY

THROUGH A TRANSITION

WE COME BACK

YOU AND I LINGER

THEN LET YOU AND I

HAVE ANOTHER

What’s YOUR Library Experience?

Tell us!

Here at the Boston Public Library we’re celebrating National Library Week. And one of the ways that we’re celebrating is by creating a page on our website dedicated to you and the joyious stories you would like to share about your experiences in the library. We would love for teens to talk about the branches they attend, the librarians they talk to on a daily basis, and the programming they couldn’t live without. Whatever it is about the library that you love… TELL US ABOUT IT!

Check out the webpage here: http://www.bpl.org/stories/ Read what others have to say, and share your own thoughts.

On Thursday of this week, we’ll be celebrating National Library Week with Library Snap Shot Day. This means we’ll be taking photos of the programs and the fun going on in the library that day to complete “a day at the library”. Show up that day and participate in the Video Games at the Copley branch and you could find yourself on our website! Yes, you could be famous just for using the library, and what could be better than that?

The MattapAnime Host Club (formerly known as the Mattapan Manga and Anime Club) met today from 2-4. Here’s what we discussed:

We want to have a Cosplay Party!!! Sometime in late September of October looks best, we’ll be narrowing this soon.  Hopefully lots of people will come in costume as their favorite anime or manga character. Clayton’s going to look into the availability of a button machine to create buttons for the party / club. We also talked about creating ties that people could wear who don’t come in costume. Having FOOD is essential to the party. Everyone should be encouraged to bring a special Japanese treat. Najah already has a grooveshark playlist for the music!
