Career Online High School (COHS) is an online high school diploma and career certification program funded by the Boston Public Library. Residents of the City of Boston who completed 8th grade and are at least 19-years-old with a valid BPL card are eligible to apply.
Students who attended high school and did not complete it may be able to transfer previously earned credits. Students who successfully completed General Equivalency Diploma (GED®) segments may be able to apply towards their course work through the library.
In order to enroll, students must successfully pass an online self-assessment with an essay question and prerequisite course. The self-assessment results will be reviewed by the enrollment team at the Boston Public Library. The enrollment team will contact you within 3 business days to discuss next steps.
Qualified applicants will be provided with a link to the two-week long prerequisite course for the career focus you wish to pursue. Please note: in order to enroll in the pre-requisite course, you will need your Boston Public Library card.
Following the prerequisite course you will be invited to an in-person interview. A determination will be made by the Library’s enrollment team within 3 days of the interview regarding scholarship award.
