Meet Magda Morris, Young Adults Librarian at the Codman Square Branch! This post is part of our "Behind the Scenes at the BPL" blog series featuring just some of the humans that keep Boston Public Library running.

Where are you from?
I'm from Boston, MA. My family is from Haiti, which I've visited only once in my entire life.
What do you do in your job day-to-day?
I plan programming, perform collection maintenance, and provide support for teens ages 13-17. Providing support can mean: planning programs that align with the teens' interests, whether workforce development, financial literacy, gaming, etc., being a crying shoulder or listening ear for their frustrations, and managing interpersonal relationships between the teens and the adults who use or work in the library.
Can you share with our readers some of your favorite books and authors?
Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The Crossover by Kwame Alexander with illustrations by Dawud Anyabwile
What is your favorite food?
Rice and beans with chicken cooked Haitian style. Yummy!
What are you passionate about outside the library?
My faith (I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N, iykyk :)) and my family. My faith informs every decision I make, the way I view the world, and increases my understanding of how to best interact peacefully and respectfully with everyone I encounter. My 3-year-old daughter keeps me and my husband on our toes, as she brings love, laughs, passion, and chaos to our home and beyond.
