“Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.”
― Jane Smiley
Give the gift of reading to those most in need today.
With the escalating threat of COVID-19, it is impossible to lend library items in traditional ways. That is why the Boston Public Library Fund has organized Books for Boston — a new initiative to quickly (following safety guidelines) deliver new children’s and adult books, curated and purchased by the Library, to non-profit partner organizations serving individuals in the City of Boston who are at especially high-risk during this pandemic. Learn more about how you can support Boston’s most vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Citywide Friends of the Boston Public Library were founded to promote public awareness of the entire Boston Public Library system and its resources, to further appreciation of the value of the Library as a cultural and educational asset, to support and link the activities of the Friends groups at the BPL’s branches, and to encourage volunteers to assist the Library.
