Borrowing a Chromebook Home Connectivity Kit (older page — do not use)

The Boston Public Library is able to loan Chromebook Home Connectivity Kits (Chromebook Kits) for 2 weeks, which will automatically renew for an additional 2 weeks if there is no waitlist.

These devices are intended for adult library patrons in good standing who do not otherwise have access to equipment or services sufficient to meet their educational needs. Funding for these devices is supported by the Emergency Connectivity Fund Program which stipulates that patrons certify their lack of access. The library is required to maintain records to show the usage of these devices for reporting and audit purposes, but will not include a patron’s personal information in those records. By obtaining a device, you are confirming you do not have access to sufficient equipment or services to meet your educational needs.

Each Chromebook Kit contains:

  • Laptop bag
  • Quick start guides
  • Laptop, charging cord, mouse
  • Hotspot in a case with charging cord and adapter

To return this Chromebook Kit, leave it with the staff member(s) at your branch’s contactless pickup point. Chromebook Kits may not be returned in the book drop. Please wait outside the door until a staff member is able to check to see if all the parts are returned. If anything is missing, the Kit will be returned to you and you will be asked to return again once all the pieces have been included.

The Library reserves the right to remotely disable any Chromebook or hotspot that is overdue or has been reported lost. You (the library cardholder) may be fined up to the value of this Chromebook and/or hotspot if it is lost or damaged.
