The Boston Public Library can send library account notifications via phone, email, or SMS message. You may specify which method you prefer when you sign up for your library card, and may later change it by stopping by any of our service desks and talking with a staff member.
Examples of these notifications include:
- Hold Request status (e.g. your hold request is ready, or has been canceled)
- Overdue notices
- Billing notices (for lost items)
- Almost overdue / renewal reminders
- Library card renewal reminders
Notification frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply for phone and SMS notifications. Patron personal or contact information will not be shared, sold or rented with third parties for marketing purposes.
If you would like to update the contact information on your library card, change your notification method, or opt out of any or all types of notifications, please stop by any of our service desks and talk with a staff member.
If you have SMS notifications set up, you can instantly disable them by replying "STOP" to one of our text messages. For help, reply HELP to any text message. If you need additional assistance or would like to switch to a different means of receiving notifications, please stop by any of our service desks and talk with a staff member.
