Boston Public Library Announces Wedding Picnics in the Courtyard

Your Love Shouldn’t Wait

Boston, June 18, 2020 – The Boston Public Library is launching a new wedding ceremony opportunity, focusing on couples who have had to cancel or postpone their weddings due to COVID-19. Beginning Thursday, June 18, reservations will be accepted for couples wishing to reserve the Central Library’s outdoor Courtyard as the ideal location for an intimate wedding ceremony this summer – followed by a celebratory picnic.

A limited number of packages are available for dates beginning Saturday, July 25th. Each offering allows up to 1.5 hours of private access to the outdoor Courtyard for the couple and eight guests, a picnic-style reception produced by The Catered Affair with small bites and champagne, and photo opportunities throughout the courtyard and within the iconic McKim Lobby Grand Staircase.

“We have heard from so many couples who are simply looking for an opportunity to be married this year – they have already made the decisions to postpone their larger celebrations, but are looking for a memorable way to exchange vows,” said Emily Tokarczyk, Director of Special Events. “We are excited to provide this option, and it’s hard to imagine a better location for a summer wedding than the BPL Courtyard.”
