Chinatown Project

Chinatown Permanent Library Services Site Review

In FY19 BPL will begin reviewing viable sites for a permanent location for library services in Chinatown. The FY19 budget includes $100,000 for the review, and will use the Chinatown Library Services Planning Study, completed in 2017, and feedback from the recently opened temporary space to inform the process.

The temporary Boston Public Library Chinatown space opened in February 2018, fulfilling long-term community advocacy to restore library services to the neighborhood. BPL Chinatown is located at 2 Boylston Street in Chinatown and includes services such as a community gathering space, a place to study and learn, and access to computers and the internet.
